- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 dash white pepper
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup sharp cheddar cheese
Directions

1Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat;

2Add flour, salt and pepper, stirring until smooth. Cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.

3Gradually add milk, cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened.

4Add cheese; stir until cheese melts.

5Yield: 1 1/4 cups.
