  • 1 tablespoon Land O Lakes Butter
  • 2 large (1/4 cup) shallots, finely chopped*
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Land O Lakes Butter, softened
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon country-style Dijon mustard, if desired
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs, if desired
  • Assorted crackers

Directions

    Melt 1 tablespoon butter in 10-inch skillet until sizzling; add shallots and sugar.

    Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, 6-8 minutes or until shallots are browned and caramelized.

    Immediately remove from heat.

    Cool 10 minutes.

    Combine shallot mixture and all remaining spread ingredients in bowl.

    Beat at medium speed until creamy.

    Cover; refrigerate 1 hour.

    Shape cheese mixture on waxed paper into pine cone shape.
