- 5 eggs, separated
- 3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 4 oz. maraschino cherries, chopped
- 1 (4 oz.) can black walnuts, chopped
Directions

1Cream sugar and shortening; add egg yolks.

2Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with buttermilk.

3Fold in beaten egg whites.

4Bake in three greased and floured cake pans at 350° until done.
