Cherry Nut Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 large can evaporated milk
  • 5 or 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 large jars maraschino cherries, crushed
  • 1/2 gal. milk or part whipping cream
  • 1 c. water
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. pecans, chopped

Directions

    Scald evaporated milk, water and sugar.

    Add vanilla and eggs. (A small amount of hot mixture added to eggs will keep them from curdling when added to hot mixture.)

    Add 1/2 gallon milk or milk and whipping cream.

    Add chopped cherries and pecans and pour in freezer and freeze.

    Add additional milk to freezer container if the mixture does not fill to full line.

    Freeze according to freezer directions.
