  • 2 c. tart cherries, drained
  • 1/3 c. juice
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/4 tsp. red coloring
  • 1 Tbsp. butter

    Drain cherries (saving juice).

    Mix sugar and flour in a saucepan and add cherry juice, coloring and extract.

    Blend in carefully.

    Stir in cherries.

    Let stand while making crusts. Bake 5 minutes at 450°; reduce heat to 375° and bake 30 to 35 minutes.
