- 1 can tart cherries
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 7 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
- 1/8 tsp. almond extract
- red food coloring (optional)
- your own recipe for 8-inch double crust
Directions

1Drain cherry juice into saucepan.

2Add sugar, cornstarch, butter, salt, almond flavoring and color.

3Cook, stirring constantly, until thick and clear.

4Remove from heat, stir in cherries.

5Pour into unbaked pie crust and top with ventilated top crust.

6Bake 10 minutes in a 425° oven, then at 375° for 25 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.

7I always use 1/2 teaspoon almond extract.

8I think it tastes more like fresh cherries.
