Cherry Pineapple Pie

  • 6 eggs, separated
  • 1 (No. 2) can cherries with juice
  • 1 small can crushed pineapple
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 6 rounded Tbsp. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • few drops of red food coloring
  • 1 baked pie crust

Directions

    Set aside egg whites for meringue.

    Mix remaining ingredients (except pie crust) together and cook over low heat until thickens.

    Pour into baked crust.

    Beat egg whites with 1/2 cup sugar until stiff.

    Spread on pie and brown slightly.
