- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. flour
- 2 1/2 c. or 1 can pitted cherries
- 1/2 tsp. almond extract
- 2 tsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/8 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Cream butter and 1/2 cup sugar in bowl.

2Sift flour, salt and baking powder together.

3Add alternately with milk to the cream mixture.

4Strain cherries; add water to the juice to make 1 1/2 cups liquid.

5Add extract. Mix cornstarch with remaining sugar; add to liquid.

6Add food coloring.

7Pour hot juice over batter. Spread cherries over top.

8Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in 350° oven.
