  • 6 egg whites
  • 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 2 c. granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. saltines, broken
  • 3/4 c. crushed walnuts
  • 1 pt. heavy whipping cream
  • 2 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 jar cherries

Directions

    Bake in a 9 x 13-inch greased dish at 350° for 25 minutes. Remove from oven and cool thoroughly.

    Whip 1 pint heavy whipping cream.

    Add 2 tablespoons granulated sugar.

    Place on top of cake, spreading evenly.

    Place cherries on top.

    Chill 4 to 5 hours before serving.
