  • 2 1/4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped pecans
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries, divided (1/3 c. chopped/rest quartered)
  • crushed corn flakes

Directions

    Blend dry ingredients; set aside.
  2. 2
    Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, then milk and vanilla; mix well.

    Add pecans, dates and 1/3 cup chopped cherries.
  4. 4
    Blend in dry ingredients, mixing well. Roll approximately 1 teaspoon dough into ball and coat with corn flakes by rolling.
  5. 5
    Bake on greased cookie sheet, after topping each cookie with 1/4 cherry at 375° for 15 minutes.
