- 1 (3 to 4 lb.) chicken
- 1 tsp. salt
- water to cover
- 1/2 c. milk
Directions

1Combine chicken, salt and water in large pot.

2Cook until chicken is tender, about an hour.

3Remove chicken from liquid. When chicken is cool enough to handle, remove meat from the bones. Discard skin and bones.

4Cut chicken into bite-size pieces.

5Add milk to chicken broth and enough water to make 8 cups.

6Add chicken and bring to boil.

7Add dumplings to broth, pepper each layer of dumplings.

8Turn heat to low, and cook, covered, for 20 minutes.
