  • 2 chickens, cut up
  • 6 c. water
  • 1 onion
  • 1 large carrot, peeled and cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 large stalk celery with leaves, cut into 2-inch pieces
  • 1/2 tsp. dill
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 3/4 lb. carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1/2 lb. small white onions, peeled
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen lima beans
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 c. milk

    Bring chicken and water to boiling in a large kettle; skim off foam.

    Add onion, 1 carrot, celery, salt, dill and cloves.

    Cover kettle, lower heat and cook 1 hour, or until chicken is tender.
