  • 1 1/2 qt. water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. thyme leaves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic, split
  • celery leaves
  • 1 ready to cook chicken
  • 6 chicken bouillon cubes
  • 1 qt. cut up cabbage
  • 4 medium carrots, sliced in half
  • 4 medium onions, quartered
  • poultry seasoning

    Combine all ingredients.

    Rinse chicken under cold water; bring to boil.

    Reduce heat and simmer 1 1/2 hours.

    Cut chicken into bite-size pieces; discard bones and skin.

    Strain broth and skim off fat.

    Return broth to kettle.
