  • 3/4 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. vegetable oil
  • 7 unbeaten egg yolks

Directions

    Mix boiling water and cocoa and cool.

    Combine flour, sugar, soda, salt, vegetable oil and unbeaten egg yolks.

    Beat until fluffy and add 2 teaspoons vanilla.

    Beat 7 egg whites and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar.

    Fold into mixture.

    Bake in tube pan at 320° for 55 minutes, then at 350° for 10 to 15 minutes.
