Ingredients
- 1 medium onion
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 (14 1/2 ounce) can diced tomatoes
- salt
- pepper
- 1 (8 ounce) can green chilies, whole
- corn tortilla
- oil
- 2 cups cheddar cheese, grated
- 1 pint sour cream
Directions

1Saute onion and garlic in oil until onion is clear.

2Add tomatoes and salt and pepper to taste.

3Simmer 10 minutes.

4Remove seeds from chiles and slice into 4 inch strips.

5Cut tortillas into triangles and fry in hot oil until crisp.

6Drain.

7Place half of the tortilla chips in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.

8Layer tomato mixture, chiles and cheese.

9Make a second layer of each, ending with the cheese.

10Heat in oven at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbling and the cheese is melted.

11Remove from oven and top with sour cream.

12Place under broiler for a few minutes until lightly browned.

13Serve hot.
