Ingredients

  • 2 lb. pinto beans
  • 1 (32 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 large cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. ground red pepper
  • 2 lb. elk burger or hamburger
  • 1 (16 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. cumin powder
  • few shakes Tabasco sauce

Directions

    Cover beans with water and soak overnight.

    Drain water and cover with fresh water to an inch or so over beans.

    Add tomatoes, onion and garlic.

    Bring to boil, turn to medium-low heat.

    Cook until beans are almost done (adding water if needed).

    Add rest of spices.

    Brown meat, drain and add to beans.

    Add tomato sauce and simmer for 2 to 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
