Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 very large onion
  • 1 very large green pepper
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder (more if very hot chili is desired)
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1 tsp. salt (if desired)
  • 30 oz. kidney beans, drained
  • 43 1/2 oz. stewed tomatoes (3 cans)
  • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil

Directions

    Brown beef in large pot.

    Drain and remove from pot.

    Chop onion and pepper; cook in oil until tender.

    Add beef and all ingredients, except beans.

    Cook for 2 hours.

    Add beans; cook for additional 15 minutes.

    Let sit overnight in refrigerator.
