Ingredients

  • 3 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 large onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 (15 oz.) can whole tomatoes
  • 1 green pepper, coarsely chopped
  • 1 pinch celery salt
  • 1 pinch ground red pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 broken up bay leaf
  • 1 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 pinch basil
  • 1 (15 oz.) can chili beans

Directions

    Chop up a large onion and a clove of garlic.

    Fry in a deep pan in 3 tablespoons of olive oil.

    Add a pound of good ground beef and cook slowly.

    When all is brown, put in a can of whole tomatoes and chop them.

    Add a chopped green pepper, a good pinch of celery salt, the same of red pepper, cumin, bay leaf, chili powder, basil and salt to taste.

    Stir and simmer some more.

    Now pour in a can of chili beans; cover and simmer until everything is slightly cooked down and well blended.
