Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 2 cans tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 (15 oz.) cans kidney beans
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • shredded Cheddar cheese (optional)
  • sour cream (optional)

Directions

    Heat oil in a skillet.

    Saute onion, bell peppers and garlic until tender.

    Remove from skillet.

    Brown beef; drain.

    Put onion/peppers back in skillet and add tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, red pepper, salt and pepper.

    Simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Add kidney beans and simmer for 10 minutes.

    Serve with some Cheddar or sour cream as desired.
