Chili Cornbread

  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 2/3 c. chopped onion
  • 2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. shortening (or omit)
  • 3 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
  • 1 can chili beans
  • 1 1/2 c. (1 box) cornbread mix (I make 1/2 recipe from scratch)

Directions

    Brown meat and onion in melted shortening.

    Add seasoning, Worcestershire sauce and tomato sauce.

    Cover and simmer 15 minutes; add chili beans.

    Pour into greased casserole.

    Top with cornbread batter and bake for 20 minutes at 250°.
