  • 1 lb. dried large lima beans
  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. chopped green pepper
  • 1 c. chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 pt. tomatoes

    Soak beans overnight.

    Cook and season with bacon or ham hock. Cook until beans are done; drain and put in large casserole dish. Brown meat; add onion, pepper, garlic, salt and chili powder. Mix well; add tomatoes and sugar.

    Pour over beans.

    Mix lightly and bake at 375° for 30 minutes.
