- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3/4 c. cornmeal
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 lb. Monterey Jack cheese
- oil (for deep frying)

Directions

1Heat the broiler.

2Broil the chiles, turning them until the skin is charred on all sides, about 15 minutes.

3When cool enough to handle, peel leaving stems intact (can be put in plastic bag to make them easier to peel).
