Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 (16 oz.) can pinto or kidney beans
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 (16 oz.) can chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 1 bay leaf

Directions

    In saucepan, brown beef,

    onion and garlic.

    Break up meat and drain fat.

    Stir in remaining ingredients and heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low.

    Cover and simmer 15 minutes or until flavors blend.

    Discard bay leaf.

    Makes 7 cups.
