Chinese Fried Walnuts

  • 4 c. walnut halves
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 6 c. water

Directions

    Bring the water to a boil; add the walnuts.

    Return to boil and boil for 1 minute.

    Drain.

    Dump into large bowl with the sugar; stir to coat well.

    Heat 1 inch of oil to 350°.

    Fry half of the nuts at a time until golden brown.

    Stir occasionally to keep from sticking.

    Drain on a foil-covered cookie sheet.

    (Don't use paper towels.)
