  • 1/2 cup (2-oz.) chopped walnuts
  • 3 cups milk
  • 2 squares (2-oz.) unsweetened chocolate
  • 3 cups bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 to 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

    Butter a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish.

    Combine milk and chocolate in top of double boiler.

    Heat until a thin film appears on surface.

    Stir until blended.

    Prepare and turn into a large bowl 3 cups bread crumbs.

    Mix chopped walnuts.

    Add chocolate mixture gradually to bread crumbs, mixing thoroughly with a fork. Mix together eggs, brown sugar, vanilla and salt.

    Pour egg mixture over bread crumb mixture.

    Toss with fork to blend well.

    Turn into prepared casserole dish.

    Bake at 350° for 50 to 60 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
