Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon White Sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1/2 cups Cold Unsalted Butter, Cubed
  • 3/4 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • FOR THE GLAZE:
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/3 cups Heavy Whipping Cream
  • 1/4 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • Pinch Of Salt

Directions

  1. 1
    Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. 2
In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, white sugar, and salt.
  3. 3
Using a grater, pastry blender, or two forks, cut in cold butter until mixture is crumbly (see note below). Add chocolate chips and stir to combine. Slowly add in buttermilk, stirring to combine.
  4. 4
On a lightly floured surface, knead dough 5-6 times and then roll about 3/4 inches thick.
  5. 5
Dip a 2-inch round cutter into flour, and then cut dough. Roll remaining scraps and repeat. You should end up with about 9 to 10 biscuits. Place biscuits into a 10-inch cast iron skillet, touching slightly. Bake for 16-17 minutes, or until lightly golden. Remove from oven and let cool for about 30 minutes.
  6. 6
To make the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, whipping cream, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Drizzle over cooled biscuits.
  7. 7
    Serve immediately. Enjoy!
