  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips, finely chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla

    Grease and flour pan, 13 x 9 x 2-inch or 2 round layer pans, 8 or 9 x 1 1/2-inch.

    Beat all ingredients in large mixer bowl on low speed, scraping bowl constantly, 30 seconds.

    Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 3 minutes.
