- 2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 c. packed brown sugar
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips, finely chopped or 1/2 c. miniature semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 1/4 c. milk
Directions

1Heat oven to 350°.

2Grease and flour oblong pan (13 x 9 x 2-inches) or 2 round layer pans (8-inch or 9 x 1 1/2-inches).

3Beat all ingredients in large mixing bowl on a low speed, scraping bowl constantly for 30 seconds.

4Beat on high speed, scraping bowl occasionally for 3 minutes.

5Pour into pan(s).

6Bake for 40 to 45 minutes or until wooden toothpick that is inserted into the center comes out clean.

7Let cake cool.

8Frost the cake.
