- 60 each maraschino cherries
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine,softened
- 3 tablespoons corn syrup, light
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 pounds chocolate for dipping
Directions

1Drain marachino cherries thoroughly, Place on paper toweling.

2Combine butter or margarine, corn syrup and salt.

3Stir in sifted confectioner's sugar.

4Knead sugar mixture until smooth.

5Shape 1 teaspoon of the sugar mixture around each cherry.

6Place on a waxed-paper-lined baking sheet, chill.

7In a small, heavy saucepan, melt chocolate, stirring constantly.

8DO NOT ADD ANY LIQUID!

9Holding cherries by stems, dip one at a time into chocolate.

10Spoon chocolate over cherries to coat.

11Chill until chocolate is hardened.

12Store candy in a covered container in a cool place.

13Let candies ripen a week or two.
