Chocolate Fudge Cake

  • 3 squares unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 1/4 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 pound box light brown sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup boiling water

    Melt chocolate.

    Let cool while proceeding with preparations.

    Grease and flour two 9x1 1/2 inch cake pans.

    Sift together flour, soda, and salt.

    Beat butter until soft in a bowl that will hold at least 4 quarts.

    Add brown sugar and eggs.

    Beat with mixer at high speed until light and fluffy (about 5 minutes).

    Beat in vanilla and melted chocolate.

    Stir in dry ingredients alternately with sour cream.
