  • 1 (5 lb.) chicken (for baking)
  • 1 1/2 c. water
  • salt

Directions

    Wash well.

    Salt inside and outside of chicken thoroughly. Brush outside with butter.

    Place in roasting pan with water and cover.
  4. 4
    Bake in 325° oven until done, approximately 20 minutes per pound.

    Remove cover last half hour to brown.
  6. 6
    Use chicken broth for rice dressing (hashwee), soups, etc.
