  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons milk
  • 3 (1-ounce) squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • About 4 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar

Directions

    Combine butter, milk, and chocolate in top of double boiler; place over boiling water, stirring until mixture melts and is well blended. Remove from heat, and cool 10 minutes.

    Stir in salt and vanilla. Gradually add sugar, beating to spreading consistency.
