- 2 egg whites
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 (3 1/2 ounce.) can shredded coconut (optional)
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 (6 ounce.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
- 1/4 c. minced walnuts
Directions

1Beat egg whites, salt, cream of tartar and vanilla at medium speed till soft peaks form.

2Gradually add in sugar, beating till stiff peaks form.

3Carefully mix in morsels, walnuts and coconut.

4Place plain paper (such as white type paper) on baking sheets.

5Drop mix by rounded teaspoonfuls onto paper, leaving space between cookies for spreading.

6Bake 25 min, or possibly till delicately golden brown in 300 degree oven.

7Cold slightly before removing paper.

8Yield: 2 to 3 dozen meringues.
