  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 (13 oz.) can evaporated milk
  • 1 1/3 c. water
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 sq. (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate
  • 1 (9-inch) deep dish pie shell, baked

Directions

    Mix the sugar, cornstarch and salt in large saucepan. Gradually stir in evaporated milk and water.

    Add chocolate.

    Cook and stir over medium heat until chocolate is completely melted and mixture boils.

    Boil 1 minute; remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

    Pour into crust.

    Chill pie at least 2 hours before serving.

    Serve topped with meringue or whipped topping.
