  • 1 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/4 c. plain flour
  • 1/4 c. cocoa
  • dash of salt
  • 1 1/2 c. milk
  • 3 eggs, separated
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Mix sugar, plain flour, cocoa and salt.

    Add milk and cook in a double boiler until mixture bubbles.

    Have the eggs separated and beat the egg yolks until smooth.

    Add the egg yolks to the mixture, stirring constantly while adding.

    Cook until thick.

    Add butter and vanilla; set aside.

    When cool, pour into a baked pie shell.

    Top with meringue made of egg whites and bake until meringue is brown.
