  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 (9-inch) baked pie shell

Directions

    Combine all ingredients. Cook over medium heat in a saucepan until it thickens, resembling a custard.

    Use a hand beater at the beginning to thoroughly mix ingredients.

    Pour filling into baked pie shell. Add meringue and brown in moderate oven at 350° for 10 minutes. Refrigerate for best results.
