  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa (may be heaping)
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Cream butter and shortening; add sugar and mix well.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.

    Add vanilla; combine dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to creamed mixture.

    Bake in a greased 10-inch tube pan at 325° for about one hour and 20 minutes.
