  • 1/2 lb. butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 5 eggs
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. baking powder

Directions

    Sift dry ingredients together. Add butter and Crisco, then beaten eggs and milk. Beat at medium speed. Add vanilla. Bake in large spring-form pan at 325° for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Start in cold oven. Punch holes in your cake and let some of icing soak in before it gets thick (right after taken off stove).
