- 3 c. sifted cake flour
- 1/2 c. cocoa
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. double-acting baking powder
- 2 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
- 5 unbeaten eggs
- 1 c. milk
- 1 c. butter and 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Sift together all dry ingredients.

2Cream together butter, shortening and sugar until real light.

3Add vanilla and add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.

4Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Beat well after each addition. Turn into tube pan, well-greased. Start off in cold oven.

5Turn heat to 325° and bake 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 hours.
