- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1/2 c. corn meal
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- pepper to taste
- 1/3 c. oil
- 1/3 c. shortening
Directions

1Wash okra, dry, slice into 1/2-inch pieces.

2Mix together flour, corn meal, salt and pepper.

3Pour egg over okra and stir well.

4Dredge in flour mixture.

5Heat skillet; add oil and shortening.

6Add okra and fry until brown.

7Stir often to prevent burning.
