- 2 sticks butter
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. vanilla
- 5 eggs, well beaten
- 3 c. plain flour, sifted
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 4 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
- 1 c. milk
Directions

1Cream well butter, sugar and shortening.

2Add vanilla; gradually add well-beaten eggs.

3Sift together salt, flour, baking powder and cocoa.

4Add alternately with milk, starting with and ending with flour.

5Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes in well-greased and floured pan at 325° to 350°.
