  • 3 c. sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 5 eggs, well beaten
  • 3 c. plain flour, sifted
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 heaping Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. milk

Directions

    Cream well butter, sugar and shortening.

    Add vanilla; gradually add well-beaten eggs.

    Sift together salt, flour, baking powder and cocoa.

    Add alternately with milk, starting with and ending with flour.

    Bake 1 hour and 20 minutes in well-greased and floured pan at 325° to 350°.
