  • 1 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 4 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Directions

    Cream the butter and shortening with sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Mix and sift flour, baking powder, salt and cocoa. Add alternately with milk and vanilla to egg mixture.

    Bake in greased 9 or 10-inch tube pan at 325° for 1 hour and 20 minutes.
