  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1/2 c. Crisco
  • 3 c. plain flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 6 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1 c. chopped nuts
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Mix butter and Crisco until creamy.

    Add sugar and mix.

    Add eggs one at a time and mix after each.

    Add flour (that cocoa has been sifted into) and milk alternately.

    Fold in nuts and vanilla. Pour in tube pan and bake at 325° for 1 hour.
