Chocolate Waffles

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/4 c. chocolate-flavored syrup
  • 2 Tbsp. cooking oil
  • 1 c. pancake mix (any brand)
  • 1/3 c. chopped pecans
  • 1/4 c. chocolate-flavored syrup
  • 1/4 c. maple-flavored syrup
  • butter or margarine (optional)

Directions

    In small mixing bowl combine egg, milk, chocolate-flavored syrup and cooking oil.

    Beat mixture until well combined.

    Place the pancake mix in medium mixing bowl.

    Add the chocolate mixture and beat just until combined.

    Pour about half the batter onto the grids of a preheated, lightly greased waffle baker.

    Sprinkle with half of the chopped pecans.

    Close waffle baker lid quickly and do not open while baking.

    Remove baked waffle with a fork.

    Repeat with remaining batter and nuts.

    Stir together 1/4 cup chocolate syrup and maple-flavored syrup; serve with waffles.

    Top with butter, if desired.

    Makes two (9-inch) waffles.
