  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 1 stick margarine
  • 4 level Tbsp. cocoa
  • 1/2 c. shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 c. water
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Directions

    Combine sugar and flour in a large mixer bowl. Bring to a boil and pour over sugar and flour the margarine, cocoa, Crisco and water. Add remaining ingredients and mix. Batter will be very thin and may spatter. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan that has been greased and floured. Bake at 400° about 25 to 30 minutes.
