  • 1 c./can cooked chickpeas
  • 2 chopped onions
  • 2 chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Tbsp. garam masala (mixture of different spices, found at Indian grocery store)
  • 1 Tbsp. channa masala (mixture of different spices, found at Indian grocery store)
  • 1/2 tsp. freshly chopped ginger
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. water
  • tomato slices, freshly chopped coriander and whole green chilies, for decorations

Directions

    Cut tomatoes and onions into big pieces.

    Crush tomatoes and onions in blender together.

    Heat butter in a pot.

    Put crushed tomatoes-onion mixture into pot and add water.

    Cook 2 minutes. Add ginger, lemon juice and channa masala; cook 3 minutes.

    Add chickpeas and salt to taste.

    Add garam masala and cook for 5 minutes.

    Decorate with tomatoes, green chilies and coriander. Serve hot with middle eastern bread.
