- 6 oz. or 1 1/2 c. flour
- 8 oz. margarine or butter
- 8 oz. sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1 lb. raisins
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp. mixed spice
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 4 oz. mixed peel
- 4 oz. cherries
- 1/2 lb. prunes, chopped
- 1 c. wine
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- finely grated rind of 1 lemon
- 2 Tbsp. browning
Directions

1Cream butter, sugar and browning until soft and fluffy.

2Sieve all dry ingredients together.

3Beat eggs, sherry, brandy or milk together.

4Add egg mixture to creamed butter and sugar.

5Add fruits.

6Fruits should be lightly floured, if sticky.

7Add flour and fold in.

8Do not overbeat when mixing.

9Bake at 350° for 1 1/2 hours or steam for 2 hours.

10Yields a 9-inch round or 8-inch square cake.
