  • 3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 4 eggs
  • 5 Tbsp. buttermilk
  • 3 scant tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. whiskey
  • 1 lb. candied pineapple
  • 1 lb. candied cherries
  • 1/2 lb. white raisins
  • 1/4 lb. candied lemon peel
  • 1/4 lb. candied orange peel
  • 2 lb. small pecan halves

    Sift 2 1/2 cups flour with cinnamon, cloves and allspice.

    Set aside.

    Cream butter and sugar; add slightly beaten eggs.

    Add flour and liquid alternately.

    Dissolve soda in buttermilk; add to mixture.

    Add whiskey.

    Cut up candied fruits and add nuts.

    Sift 1/2 cup of flour over fruits and nuts (keeps from sticking together).

    Fold in mixture.

    Drop by teaspoonful on greased and floured cookie sheet.

    Bake in preheated 250° oven for 25 minutes. Yield:
