- 1 c. margarine or butter
- 2 c. granulated sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. cloves
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 4 eggs
- 2 (1 lb.) No. 303 cans applesauce
- 2 Tbsp. dark rum or rum flavoring
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. soda
- 2 (1 lb.) jars glace fruit mix
- 4 c. walnuts
Directions

1Set oven at 300° to preheat while you mix the cake.

2In large mixing bowl, put butter, sugar and spices.

3Cream until light and fluffy.

4Add eggs and beat well.

5Then add applesauce, rum and vanilla.

6Sift flour, salt and soda together and gradually add to the mixture.

7Beat until batter is smooth.

8Fold in glaced fruit mix and nuts.

9Mix well to distribute throughout batter.

10Pour batter into a greased, lightly floured tube or angel food cake pan.

11Bake in slow 300° oven for 2 1/2 to 3 hours; in loaf pan about 2 hours.

12Cake will pull away from pan when completely done. Cool in pan.

13Turn out and allow to cool.
