- cucumbers to fill gallon jar
- 4 Tbsp. alum
- 4 Tbsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. pickling salt
- 8 c. sugar
- vinegar
- 1/2 c. water
Directions

1Fill jar with fresh, washed whole cucumbers.

2Put in next 3 items on top of pickles.

3Fill jar with vinegar.

4Let stand until December.

5Take out cucumbers and wash in cold water to remove alum and salt.

6Slice and put back in jar.

7Add sugar and water. Put lid back on jar.

8Turn upside down each day until sugar turns to syrup and comes up over pickles.

9They are ready to eat.

10Store in refrigerator.
